A UF student is raising questions about the resident Chick-Fil-A on campus after her visit lasted longer than her class period on Tuesday.

After attending her double-block,  Riley Fulton went to the Hub to get a chicken sandwich and some waffle fries. The Chick-Fil-A Express in the Hub, however, decided to add something else to her order: a 30-minute wait.

“Why is it even called an express?”

Fulton asked.

“It takes twice as long as any Chick-Fil-A drive-thru I’ve ordered in.”

When Fulton arrived to the Hub, she was greeted by a line that nearly stretched to the Starbucks. She told reporters she contemplated driving to the location on Archer, but figured with a name like “Chick-Fil-A Express,” she wouldn’t have to be in line for too long.

“They had two cashiers taking people’s orders,”

Fulton said.

“Then there was one guy behind the counter that looked up at the order screen often but didn’t really seem to contribute anything.”

Steven Roberts, the guy seemingly not doing anything behind the counter, shared his side of the story.

“I don’t just watch the screen,”

Roberts said.

“Sometimes I say encouraging things to the other people around me that are working hard!”

Fulton placed her order after her brief wait of 50 minutes and then waited with fifteen others for her name to be called. However, one cashier had forgotten to ask for a name to go with all the orders, and the employees were forced to just repeat the order out loud.

“She said my exact order a couple of times but other people kept claiming it,”

Fulton said.

“I got tired of waiting so I just settled for somebody’s 8-piece nuggets.”

Other students overheard Fulton complaining about her situation to a friend and are now joining her in support of bringing down the falsely named express restaurant. Fulton said that they plan to protest the establishment by refusing to buy their food for the next week.

“It would be longer, but a person can only eat Pollo Tropical so many times a day.”
