The Florida Gators emerged victorious from the Swamp late last evening after coaches from the University of Mississippi made a crucial mistake by accidentally driving their buses to the wrong stadium.
Around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, the Gator football staff received a phone call from Ole Miss claiming that they had mistakenly driven their entire team to EverBank Field, home of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
“It was the strangest call we’ve ever received,”
said one Florida assistant coach.
With such a big game at hand, who would’ve thought that they’d never show up.”
Not wanting to leave the fans empty-handed, the University Athletic Association quickly began looking for a local high school team that could act as a replacement for Ole Miss.
Luckily, Hotty Toddy High was eager to step up to the challenge.
Ranked #3 in Alachua County, the Hotty Toddy Resisters were considered to be a dominant powerhouse in local high school football, and even McElwain’s Gators were predicted to have a hard time.
Before the game, Resisters quarterback Chazz Kelly was found warming up.
It’s been a while since we’ve played the Gators. Back in 2008 we had a scrimmage against them just for the fun of it,”
Kelly said.
“Today we’re back and hoping it’s Grier who’s crying this time.”
Shortly after a few big plays for the Gators, the direction of the game became very clear.
The Gators stormed against the Hotty Toddy Resisters with an unforgiving desire to win. As the smoke cleared, it was the Gators who had pulled away with a stunning victory.
Well, the Resisters really did play like the high school team that they are,”
Coach McElwain said.
“They weren’t the Ole Miss that we were expecting, but we have to give Hotty Toddy some credit for even finding the right stadium to play in.”
Next weekend Hotty Toddy High will take on a middle school team with the hopes that an easy victory will boost their morale.
